[Samsung Smart Oven] Quick Menu Guide
The Smart Cook Programmes are conveniently listed on a chart as shown above.

Using the right cookware for a microwave oven is equally important. As a safety precaution, use the "crusty plate" provided or microwave safe cookware. During convection cooking, disposal muffin and cake cases, greaseproof paper and baking tins are all safe to be used.

The interior of the Samsung Smart Oven is designed with convenience in mind using ceramic enamel surface which provides a durable interior that allows grease and oil to be easily cleaned off (so remember to keep the oven clean and wipe all spills with a damp cloth after each used). Furthermore the coating is also scratch-resistant and helps to prevent bacteria and odour transfer too.

[Samsung Smart Oven] Control Panel
The smart oven features various cooking modes ranging from Smart Multi Sensor, Slim Fry, Dough/Yogurt, Convection, Microwave, and etc. More details of these features will be shared through the recipe posts below.

There is a dual Dial Knob at the bottom of the control panel for selection of weight/serving/time adjustment while setting the cooking programmes. You may have notice the Stop/Eco button that helps to save electricity when the oven is not in use.

You can stop cooking at any point of time to check the food, turn/stir the food or have it on stand by:-

Temporarily: Open the door or press the Stop/Eco button once. To resume cooking, close the door again and press the Start/+30s button.

Completely: Press the Stop/Eco button twice to end the cooking process.

Depending on the model purchased, the oven also comes with several accessories that can be used in a variety of ways. The photo above shows the High / Low Rack which is to be placed on the turntable to cook two dishes at the same time. A small dish may be placed on the turntable while the second dish can be placed on the rack. These metal racks can also be used during grill, convection and combination cooking.

The Crusty Plate, on the other hand, can be used to brown the bottom of food by using the microwave or grill combination cooking modes, as well as keep pastry and pizza dough crispy.

[Samsung Smart Oven] Remove Odor And Cleaning
Follow these steps prior to using the oven for the first time, or to remove odour after a long cooking session:-

1. Fill a microwave safe bowl with water until it is half full, add in two slices of lemon, and place the bowl on the turntable.

2. Press the Microwave button, and select the appropriate power level (900W).

3. Set the cooking time by turning the Dial knob clockwise until it reaches 10 minutes (1st time) and 5 minutes for subsequent cleaning.

4. Press the Start/+30s button to start the cooking process.

The Samsung Smart Oven MC32F606 includes functions such as microwave, oven, slim fry, fermenters, and also ensures germ-free cleaning cooking with its antibacterial ceramic coating inside. It is available for SG$649 at major consumer electronics stores.

I will be sharing some simple recipes (30 minutes meal) using this oven, so please keep a look out on them soon.

Kueh Tutu (嘟嘟糕) And Kueh Tutu Mould

Kueh Tutu also known as "嘟嘟糕" in Mandarin is a traditional Singaporean delicacy which is made using rice flour. These steamed rice cakes are made using a special kueh tutu mould (refer to the photo shown below) where the prepared rice flour together with filling is steamed for a minute or two before removing it and place on a piece of pandan leave and served.

This is the special circular Kueh Tutu Mould which is used to shaped the kueh into flower shaped. To make Kueh Tutu, the mould is first filled with some cooked rice flour, follow by spoonful of coconut/peanut fillings then another layer of cooked rice flour on top. Next a small piece of pandan or banana leaf is place on top before it is turned upside down on a small cheesecloth and place on the steamer rack (you can refer to the photo below) and steamed until cook through.

Palm Sugar (Gula Melaka) Syrup

Gula melaka or also known as Palm Sugar in English is made by first extracting the sap from the flower bud of a coconut tree. Several slits are cut into the bud and a pot is tied underneath the bud to collect the sap. After which the sap is boiled until thickens before pouring into bamboo tubes between 3-5 inches in length and left to solidify in order to form cylindrical cake blocks.

These homecook gula melaka syrup can be used as topping or sweetener for dessert such as Chendol, Chendol Agar Agar, Sago Gula Melaka, Bubur Terigu and etc. These cooked syrup can be stored in the fridge for a few weeks up to 3 months.

Kau Kee - 九杞菜

Kau Kee - 九杞 (wolfberry leaves) is a kind of leafy vegetables that comes in long stalks and sharp thorns on it. You can get this from most local supermarket or tradition wet market near your area. Usually this vegetable is cooked as a soup using minced meat and egg.

And from one of my food review from a Zhi Char - 煮炒摊 that we ordered this “Kau Khee Soup - 九杞菜汤/枸杞菜汤”, I came up with an one-pot dish "recipe" with these ingredients too. If you prefer it to be served as soup like what shown above, you can always whipped it up at home with simple ingredients such as egg and minced meat.
